The City of Prince Rupert has approved a new program to encourage youth to be more active.
In effect, until the end of August, youth aged 18 and under will have their drop-in fee waived for Saturday night activities.
Director of recreation and community services Nicole Beauregard said this new program will help our youth enjoy being active.
“We want to ensure local youth have a safe, welcoming space to be active and connect with friends over the summer months.”
According to an article by the Government of Canada on children and physical activity, making regular physical activity a habit at an early age will provide your child with lifelong benefits. Adults with higher levels of activity are able to carry out their daily tasks more easily and with less fatigue and, later in life, enjoy lower rates of bone loss associated with osteoporosis while also maintaining strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
