Masset RCMP respond to man with a weapon

A man has been arrested following an alleged serious assault with a weapon in the community of Masset on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Upon arrival at the location, police found the suspect restrained by local citizens. He was then arrested and taken into custody.

Police said the man needed treatment at the hospital, where he was released on strict conditions and will be required to attend court in October.

“Masset RCMP quickly responded to a dynamic event and were able to quickly take the suspect into custody with assistance from the public. Police will be forwarding a report to Crown Cousel and recommending multiple charges against the man.” said Cpl. Brett Urano BC RCMP spokesperson.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed this incident and has not yet spoken to an investigator, to please contact the Masset RCMP at 250-626-3991.
