RCMP in B.C. are nearing the last leg of the Cops for Cancer Tour de North from Prince George to Prince Rupert.
The Tour de North left Prince George on Sept. 12 with the goal of raising $250,000 for childhood cancer research. With about 24 hours until the tour comes to a close, they have raised 90 per cent of their goal and need less than $25,000.
Childhood cancer can cause issues even after it’s been cured, said the Canadian Cancer Society.
“Childhood cancer can cause problems with the body’s normal growth and function. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body, causing more problems.”
The tour will arrive in Terrace today (Sept. 17) and then the Prince Rupert Safeway at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 18. Closing ceremonies for the tour will be held at the Crest Hotel following its arrival.
