PRPA sees a rise in total cargo volume in September

The Prince Rupert Port Authority has seen an increased volume of cargo at several major terminals since September 2024.

In September, the PRPA saw a 12 per cent increase in cargo volume since the same time last year across all terminals. The Westview Wood Pellet Terminal saw an 89 per cent increase from Sept. 2024, while the Trigon Terminal had a 49 per cent increase. The Fairview Container Terminal also saw a 13 per cent increase in cargo.

Year-to-date, across all terminals, the increase in overall cargo volume is nearly two million tonnes, with nearly one million of that coming from the Fairview Container Terminal.

The increase in cargo is likely linked to the PRPA’s rapid expansion efforts.
