Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue aid missing, injured man

Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue was dispatched to Kloiya Bay to aid a missing elderly man in need of medical assistance on Friday, Oct. 24.

The man went missing the evening of Oct. 24 and while not much information is publicly available, PRGSAR said they were able to locate the man because he let someone know his plans, giving the search team a general idea on the man’s location.

PRGSAR was tasked with transporting the subject from the bay through hazardous intertidal terrain where he was then transferred to an ambulance to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Telling someone of his plans is a crucial step if you plan to go to a potentially hazardous area, said PRGSAR.

“We would like to thank all rescuers and volunteers involved. We would also like to highlight the importance of letting someone know your plan before you go out. This decision by the subject substantially affected the success of this tasking.”
