LNG information dinner and discussion coming to Prince Rupert

The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce is hosting a public event for residents to learn what economic benefits the city could gain from the expansion of LNG production.

In recent months, several North Coast Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) projects have received federal and provincial approval. In response, the Chamber is organizing what it’s calling “Prince Rupert’s propane and LNG moment,” an event scheduled for Nov. 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Highliner Conference Centre.

Speakers include Gerry Protti of Collaborative Canadian Energy Solutions, Stewart Muir of Resource Works and Lyn Anglin of Canada Powered By Women.

The speakers will be able to share some insightful knowledge, said Chamber of Commerce president Andy Enns.

“The speakers that are coming to Prince Rupert are very much pro development and they will be talking about the opportunities that are coming available in the northwest region as part of what they call the propane and LNG moment.”

LNG and propane exports are expected to bring major economic benefits to Northwest B.C., said Enns, who described Prince Rupert as an economically diverse city.

“The whole purpose of this dinner and information event centers around promotion of the resource development and transportation in the northwest. We currently have many different projects that are working in Prince Rupert that send a variety of different products. Some of which are energy-related, such as coal, propane, wood pellets and there is further construction of more resource projects and the export terminals in the Prince Rupert region.”

Tickets are $70 and can be purchased on the Chamber of Commerce website.
