Sea Wolves drop two close games to Kitimat, fall to fourth in standings

The U18 Prince Rupert Sea Wolves dropped a pair of close games over the weekend in Kitimat, falling to fourth place in the Northwest Representative League.

In the first game, Kitimat struck early with a goal from Kaleb Calkins just two minutes in. The Sea Wolves responded six minutes later with a goal from Charlie Brown to tie the game. Kitimat answered with goals from Logan Pankhurst and Aiden McCormick to make it 3-1 after the first period.

The Sea Wolves scored the only goal of the second period in the final seconds from Luca Pirillo to make it a one-goal game.

The third period saw Kitimat extend their lead to two from a Carson DeSousa goal. The Sea Wolves responded with two goals to tie the game from Noah Movold and Kenyan Barry. In the final seconds of the game, it looked like it would end in a draw until Kitimat got the game-winning goal with 27 seconds left with Pankhurst’s second of the game to lift Kitimat over the Sea Wolves in a 5-4 victory.

After a difficult loss the day before, the Sea Wolves took to the ice for a rematch with Kitimat.

The U18 Sea Wolves return to action Feb. 7 and 8 when they travel to Vanderhoof for their final games of the season.
