Trigon Pacific Terminals, the largest bulk export terminal in B.C., is reporting a significant increase in export volumes for 2025.
The company saw an increase of over one million metric tons in export volume last year, a rise of 14 per cent. Trigon handles Canadian steelmaking coal, thermal coal and petroleum coke, and provides a rail unloading berth for liquid propane gas (LPG).
The growth, will help the company build stronger communities, said Trigon president and CEO Craig Olley.
“Our volume growth is noteworthy, but success isn’t measured by volumes alone. Rather, for Trigon, it is about working to enable Canada’s trade objectives and, through that, building even stronger communities on Canada’s northwest coast,” Olley said.
In 2025, Trigon invested $750 million in its LPG project. With LPG exports and renewed Canada-Asia trade relationships, Olley said Trigon wants to help grow demand for Canadian LPG.
“There’s a huge market opportunity to expand exports of Canadian LPG to the Asia-Pacific,” explained Olley.
“Trigon is ready to step up and help close the growing export-capacity gap with our LPG project – a competitive and truly open-access facility – giving customers options and taking Canadian LPG exports to the level markets are looking for.”
Trigon has also advanced construction on its Berth Two Beyond Carbon (B2BC) project, with completion expected around June.
Because of Prince Rupert’s proximity to Asia, the Port of Prince Rupert is seen as an ideal port for shipping to Asian markets.
