Flood watch issued for North Coast

The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a flood watch for the north coast due to heavy rainfall and an atmospheric river.

The advisory came at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3 and is expected to last until late Wednesday, Feb. 4.

The River Forecast Centre predicts that the area between Prince Rupert and Terrace could get up to 120 millimetres of rain, which may make driving difficult.

Drivers are being advised that rising river levels have the potential to spill over onto the roads, especially along the Skeena River, potentially causing large pools of water and washouts.

Drivers are also being warned of the danger of driving through flood waters or across washouts, as the current can be strong enough to move a vehicle.
