The Prince Rupert Port Authority saw a large increase in cargo volume across several terminals compared to 2025 numbers.

As the port continues to expand and grow, so do its cargo volume numbers. Across all terminals, cargo saw a 42 per cent increase compared to this time last year which is equivalent to around 630,000 metric tonnes.

The Fairview Container Terminal saw a 55 per cent rise in cargo, or about 250,000 tonnes.

The Prince Rupert Harbour recorded a 33 per cent increase, or about 15,500 tonnes.

The Prince Rupert Grain Terminal saw about 120,000 more tonnes than last year, for a 38 per cent increase.

The Trigon Pacific Terminal saw a 42 per cent increase in cargo volume, or about 234,000 tonnes.

The Westview Wood Pellet Terminal saw the smallest increase in volume at 21 per cent, or about 16,000 tonnes.

The only terminal to see a drop in volume was the Watson Island Bulk Terminal with a minuscule 0.1 per cent drop in volume, or 44 tonnes.

The Port of Prince Rupert is commonly referred to as one of the fastest-growing ports. When comparing the Port of Prince Rupert to the Port of Vancouver, Prince Rupert averages more monthly growth.
