Severed fibre-optic cable causes TELUS outages on Haida Gwaii

Residents of Skidegate and Daajing Giids who use TELUS, CityWest or Mascon services may experience poor internet and telephone connections due to a severed fibre-optic cable.

The cable between Skidegate and Tlell was cut, leaving residents in those areas without service.

TELUS said the issues began Saturday. The North Coast Regional District sent a Voyent Alert notification earlier today informing residents of the outage and that crews are working to fix the problem.

TELUS said services are expected to be restored Tuesday afternoon.
