Donation to transition society a meaningful act of generosity, says chamber of commerce

Following the Prince Rupert Business Excellence Awards, local performer Ray Leonard donated his honorarium to the North Coast Transition Society.

Leonard’s donation was matched by the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his generosity, said the Chamber.

“Ray Leonard, who delivered a wonderful performance at the event, kindly requested that his honorarium be donated to the North Coast Transition Society. In recognition of his gesture, the Chamber was honoured to match his contribution, allowing us to present a combined donation in support of their important work.”

The Transition Society provides help to people fleeing abusive relationships and a safe place to stay. The Chamber said it was able to see the benefits of supporting the Transistion Society during a recent tour.

“We had the opportunity to visit the North Coast Transition Society and see first-hand the care, dedication, and professionalism of the team. From the well-maintained facilities to the welcoming and safe environment they provide, it’s clear that their work goes far beyond support—it empowers individuals to rebuild, grow, and become self-sufficient.”

The Transition Society thanked Leonard for his donation and said that community support allows them to maintain operations.

“Thank you to Ray Leonard and the Prince Rupert & District Chamber of Commerce for their generous donation. Community support is invaluable and we would not be able to do good work without it.”
