Charles Hays senior volleyball has successful weekend

Both the Charles Hays Secondary School senior boys and girls took home gold in their respective Northwest zone championships over the weekend.

The senior boys faced off against Smithers Secondary on Saturday and took home the championship banner after a decisive three sets to none victory. The senior girls were also victorious in earning the banner and a berth into the provincial championship in Kelowna.

Both teams played great, making good passes, well-executed hits and never gave up on a play. One of the biggest reasons for their success was their teamwork, when a player made a mistake their teammates would lift them up and focus their attention on getting the next point.

While the boys won their zone championship, they could not commit to sending their team to provincials in Prince George because many athletes had commitments to other sports.

The girls will travel to Kelowna for the tournament beginning on Nov. 27.
