DP World CEO and group chairman steps down amid ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Warning: The following contains details that may be upsetting to some readers.

DP World CEO and group chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem has resigned effective immediately after documents surfaced about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Over the past few weeks the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released thousands of files relating to the crimes of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein which have caused a stir around the world.

In a 2010 letter to an unknown source, Epstein referred to bin Sulayem as his “close personal friend” and that he has known bin Sulayem for “more than eight years.”

In a 2009 email, Epstein sent a message to a person whose name was redacted that said “where are you? are you ok, I loved the torture video.” Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna went to the DOJ on Feb. 9 to view the unredacted files and confirmed via social media platform, X, that the redacted name that Epstein was responding to was bin Sulayem.

According to the DP World code of ethics, section 5.1 bin Sulayem’s conduct violates the company code he implemented.

Following the release of the new files calls for bin Sulayem to step down came en masse and on Feb. 13 he offered his immediate resignation. With bin Sulayems departure, the DP World board of directors announced Essa Kazim has been appointed Chairman and Yuvraj Narayan has been appointed Group CEO.
